AEG Heat Pump Tumble Dryers

PosteritUK stocks 3 AEG heat pump condenser dryers, priced between £260 and £399. All three work on the heat pump principle: instead of generating fresh heat every cycle, the dryer recycles warm air through a refrigerant loop. This generally makes heat pump dryers more efficient than standard condenser or vented models, which vent or discard that heat.

The models available

The range covers two drum sizes and two energy ratings, so there is a real practical difference between each option rather than just a colour choice.

• AEG TR718L4B — White, 8kg, A++ energy rating. A solid everyday dryer for a household of two to four people.
• AEG TR848A4B — Black, 8kg, A+++ energy rating. The same drum size as the TR718L4B but rated one step higher for energy efficiency, so running costs should be lower over time. Also the only black finish in this range.
• AEG TR849P4B — White, 9kg, A++ energy rating. The larger drum handles bigger loads — useful for larger households or anyone who regularly dries bulky items like duvets.

8kg or 9kg?

An 8kg drum handles a typical mixed wash load in one go and suits most households of up to four people. The 9kg model is worth a look if you often fill the drum to capacity or deal frequently with large or heavy items. Bear in mind that the A+++ rating on the 8kg TR848A4B may offset some of the electricity a larger drum would use.
